Our Democracy Is Under Threat. Let's Defend It.
Starting May 1st, 2025, join us in letting Washington know we demand the impeachment, conviction, and removal of President Donald J. Trump. Through a continuous, peaceful protest and constituent engagement, we aim to hold our leaders accountable and restore constitutional integrity.
Take Action Today. Demand Accountability.
MONTH OF INDEPENDENCE ART CALL
On July 2nd 1776 The Continental Congress (“The Congress”) voted to
declare independence from Great Britain. They then spent two days
debating and revising The Declaration of Independence (“The
Declaration”) . On July 4th 1776, 249 years ago today, The Congress
adopted the final wording of “The Declaration”. Today is the date we all
know and celebrate, however, the final engrossed (official) copy was not
actually signed by the delegates until almost a month later, on August
2nd 1776.
In the spirit of remembering our nation’s founding and original
fight for liberty and justice, Mayday Movement USA invites
visual artists to submit 2D artwork. Themes should be related to
the Declaration of Independence document, to declaring
independence, or to having elected, representative
government.
The Crisis
A Constitutional Emergency
President Trump’s actions have undermined our democratic institutions and violated the principles of justice and liberty. His disregard for the Constitution necessitates immediate action.
Our Response
- Daily meetings with legislators and their voters about impeachment.
- Engage and educate the public on the impeachment process and it's significance.
- Establish lawful, peaceful, and Constitutional demonstrations all while creating inroads with Congress and letting them know they will be voted out if they do not act
Our Mission
Impeachment. Conviction. Removal.
We are a grassroots coalition of concerned citizens, united to uphold the rule of law and protect our democracy. Our methods include:
Citizen Lobby
Connecting voters directly to their legislators in person, in writing, and online.
Educate
Creating a forum for civic education and artistic expression to engage and inform the public.
Organize
Establish a grass-roots movement to host anti-Trump activities across the country.

Strength in Unity
Defending Democracy, Together
1. Community Power & Collective Uprising
This is the spirit of mass resistance—mutual aid, direct action, and people taking back power. We honor movements past and present while building what comes next.
Art and costume ideas: Street medic gear, banners from history, protest shields, Zapatista-style masks
2. Service, Sacrifice, and Accountability
We honor veterans and demand accountability from the systems that exploit them. We fight for proper care, housing, and justice for those affected by war—both abroad and at home. We demand an end to U.S.-led and U.S.-funded genocide and ethnic cleansing.
Our vision includes a world without militarized violence, where no one is displaced, bombed, or dehumanized for profit or power.
Art and costume ideas: Camouflage jackets with peace signs, VA claim folders turned into protest art, symbolic graves, protest poppies, war budget pie charts
3. Gender Equality & Queer Liberation
We stand for abortion access, gender-affirming care, protection from gender-based violence, and the freedom to live safely in one’s body. Gender liberation means everyone gets to define and express themselves freely.
Art and costume ideas: Protest drag, Rosie the Riveter, Handmaid’s Tale cloaks, armor made of pink ribbons, “Equal Rights Now” sashes, Pride flags, ballroom looks, chains breaking
4. Borders, Belonging, and Racial Justice
We reject xenophobia, anti-Blackness, and white supremacy. This day centers Indigenous sovereignty, Black liberation, immigrant dignity, and racial equity across all systems.
Art and costume ideas: Statue of Liberty crowns, papel picado banners, traditional dress with protest messages
5. Access, Care, and Interdependence
We demand universal healthcare, disability justice, elder dignity, transportation access, and policies that embrace interdependence over individualism.
Art and costume ideas: Care worker uniforms, mobility aids turned into art, DIY accessibility icons
6. Work, Dignity, and Economic Justice
From exploited gig workers to overworked teachers, we demand fair wages, union protections, housing access, and an economy built on equity—not exploitation.
Art and costume ideas: Rosie the Riveter, fast food uniforms with protest slogans, hardhats & lunchboxes
7. Survival, Wealth, and Systemic Inequity
Poverty isn’t personal—it’s policy. This theme addresses debt, wage theft, homelessness, food insecurity, and the hoarding of wealth by the few.
Art and costume ideas: Broken piggy banks, oversized “past due” notices, billionaire caricatures
8. Learning, Liberation, and Educational Equity
We fight for fully funded public schools, student debt cancellation, honest history, and access to education for all—especially those most marginalized.
Art and costume ideas: Graduation gowns with protest slogans, red pens, banned books as props
9. Freedom, Surveillance, and State Violence
We challenge mass incarceration, police brutality, ICE raids, “freedom cities,” use of AI for war, and digital surveillance. Liberation can’t exist under constant threat and control.
Art and costume ideas: CCTV masks, “all eyes on” headpieces, police line tape as fashion
10. Land, Legacy, and Climate Justice
We stand with Indigenous land defenders, frontline communities, environmental scientists, and youth climate leaders. We also fight to protect national parks, wildlife habitats, and the ecosystems we all depend on. The struggle for a livable planet is a struggle for justice, stewardship, and survival.
Art and costume ideas: Earth goddess, trees with protest signs, park ranger jackets, endangered species masks, water protectors’ regalia
11. Faith, Healing, and Sacred Resistance
We honor spiritual traditions that uplift justice, care, and liberation. This includes healing from religious trauma and reclaiming sacred practices.
Art and costume ideas: Liberation theology robes, protest rosaries, ancestor altars
